SkyBet have adjusted their odds accordingly!
In other news, Robbie Keane has been sighted skulking down the Seven Sisters Road with his tail between his legs. They’re buying him for £15 million apparently. For once their innovative policy of short-selling on players might actually work!

15.48 At last Arsenal and Zenit St Petersburg have finally agreed a fee for the transfer of Andrei Arshavin to the Gunners. The deal is still to be finalised though with Arshavin and the Russians still to sort out a final payment. It is understood Arshavin will wear the number 13 shirt.

I agree with Hypernovae – the journalists are all so jumpy on this one that it’s better to wait for the club to make an announcement than take the “latest” information seriously.
February 2nd, 2009 at 5:41 pm
It’s off just been informed I’m devistated.
February 2nd, 2009 at 5:43 pm
Have to say, if this deal doesn’t go through I will be gutted tbh. I don’t blame Arsenal for holding out for a figure they believe is right… but I do blame them for putting all their eggs in one basket… I’ll keep refreshing Arsenal.com for some news…
February 2nd, 2009 at 5:43 pm
This is a total nightmere Arsenal will be a laughing stock. I meanif the Spuds can get thier best striker back and we have been negotiating for 33 days and ge sweet FA makes me sick gutted.. angry and disappointed .. what now for Arsenal! Sort it out Arsenal board get back Dein and do your transfer business properly! Why is it always Arsenal that always miss out on quality.. I think we missed out on Alonso on the last deal what an absolute joke… where is the fans money going.. someone is getting rich..
February 2nd, 2009 at 5:43 pm

February 2nd, 2009 at 5:47 pm
look at the latest transfer blog on both BBC and SSN… again nothing confirmed until it comes directly from the club – but it’s being reported by the Associated Press that it’s off…
February 2nd, 2009 at 5:49 pm

Welll Zenith will release a statement within the next hour… stating the obvious or that he’s been sold who knows.. if we do get him he’d gonna have some pressure on him t perform after all this but I don’t think its gonna happen.. not being pessimistic but the omens don’t look good!
February 2nd, 2009 at 6:03 pm
Man someone take Arshavin to a cash maching he only needs 2.5 million to buy out his contract! lol
February 2nd, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Interestingly, having just taken a quick look at goonernews.com – it’s laughable the number of sites who claimed prematurely that a deal for Arshavin was signed and sealed. It’s this kind of second-rate tabloid reporting that leads to fans being upset if it all goes t!ts up… Remember, anything other than a statement on Arsenal.com is nothing more than speculation and conjecture.

The transfer deadline may have passed but Zenit St Petersburg are adamant that talks are still underway that could result in Andrei Arshavin finally becoming an Arsenal player.
The most tortuous transfer of the January transfer window continues to rumble on but it appeared that Arshavin was on the brink of moving to North London on Monday evening when the two teams agreed on a deal and Arsenal agreed personal terms with the player.
But a payment, demanded by Zenit of Arshavin, remains a sticking point and the 5pm deadline passed with no confirmation of a deal from Arsenal.
A Zenit spokesman was then quoted as saying that the deal had fallen through, but it appears that, yet again, Arsenal fans have been guided down a misleading path.
As confusion continues to surround the status of the deal, Zenit general director Maxim Mitrofanov insists talks are still ongoing.
“The clubs have a mutual desire to complete the transaction,” Mitrofanov told Sovetsky Sport at 5.40pm. “Negotiations are continuing.”
It is anticipated that Zenit will soon issue a statement to finally confirm whether the Russia playmaker has joined Arsenal.

February 2nd, 2009 at 7:08 pm
18.50 Arsene Wenger has told Sky Sports News that Arsenal will make a “positive” announcement on the Andrei Arshavin saga this later evening.

Having watched this whole ordeal from the beginning, I can see why Zenit could not come to terms with Barca, Madrid, AC Milan etc over the summer:
They act just like those clubs, doing business through the press and being difficult at all times.
