  3. Confirmed? Says:

Nothing confirmed until http://www.arsenal.com or http://www.fc-zenit.ru/eng/main.phtml confirm.

  4. Hypernovae Says:

Woohoo! At last – some balance across the midfield… Okay so we still miss Fab – but at least in Arshavin / Nasri we have a genuine answer for last year’s tandem of Rosicky / Hleb… only better..! If only Ade could find his scoring touch and something vaguely resembling a work-rate we’ll be fine… if not then Eduardo will be back to take his place in no time…

  5. Leo Says:

    worth awhile waiting for

  6. oz_gooner Says:

They knew all along they wanted him !!! This has to go down as the most painful transfer we’ve had to put up with .., after Henry ofcourse…

  7. Matlee Says:

I thought we were waiting for Premier League to give confirmation? Zenit already agreed yesterday.

  8. Chandan Says:

worth waiting all these days for a quality player

  9. Ö Says:

Good news, however I’m a bit anxious, as one should be with wild cards such as these… I’ve got this nasty feeling that he won’t live up to the expectations. Hope I’m wrong.

When will he be able to play? Could he even be in the team vs totts on sunday, perhaps?

  10. Chandan Says:

but still there is anxiety..bcos premier league officials should give confirmation and it should be shown on arsenal.com..they we can have a sight of relief..till then?

  11. Matt Trower Says:

For all the so called Arsenal fans who slagged off everyone from Wenger to the director’s to the burger salesmen at the club. How do you feel now!! The deal was held up because Zenit vowed to make life as difficult as possible for Arshavin yesterday.. What’s that got to do with AFC??
We’ve got a world class player for less than what most club’s would have paid for him, and on ‘reasonable’ wages. We have four more world class players coming back from injury, who of course we have missed….If you don’t like it p**s off down the road to Spuds…..they spend hundreds of millions on players, if that’s what makes a club great and worthy of your loyalty.

    Matt Trower:

Could not have said it better myself

  13. ryan Says:

for fucks sake don’t say official; because it isn’t.

it’s possible whether unlikely or not that the transfer will not go through as it HASN”T officially been confirmed as accepted by the fa or whoever does that stuff yet. get your facts straight, jesus christ. if he doesn’t join it’s moronic posts like this which will be the cause of so much disappointment after people like you keep claiming it’s certain when we don’t know it yet.

  14. E'yoki Says:

Wonderful news. But ,i think, we needed more players; a tall and strong defensive midfielder, a quick defender, and one more striker to keep Ade on bench.

  15. oyinda Says:

whaoooooo its cool in there we goona beat all clubs now with the attack of nasriiiii eudardo coming back theooooo im proud 2b gooners.

  16. scalegiga Says:

  17. scalegiga Says:

glory be to God at last the deal is done

  18. Matt Trower Says:

E’yoki, don’t forget though,we have’nt been letting in too many goals at all. What is it, 3 in 7 or something?! We need chances created and clinical finishing. It will happen for sure. I believe February will be a solid month.
    Matt

  26. gunner8309 Says:

Matt Trower you dunno what fans are tryin to say, im not one of those who complained.but fans are complaining ’cause we are playin eboue, adebayor who are not puttin in enough and get paid what they get paid, and the club was not loyal to vieira who wanted to stay, nor tried to retain someone like flamini, the club has not been loyal to players,

the point is though, we are not challenging for title and the club is still releasing statements what they said 4 years ago….same thing over and over again.. im not saying its wengers fault, hes stuck between players, fans, board and finance…. i support arsenal even if we get relegated, but im not gonna ask someone to go away to spurs ’cause they love us and want us to win…. they are jus a lil immature…

  27. Bem Biibii Says:

Thank GOD our hope for the premiership title is rekindle, with Fabregas speedly rcovering, Walcot and Eduardo.

    Up! Up!! Up!!! Gunners

  28. Arsenal1Again Says:

    @oz_gooner…..

The most painful transfer was the Liam Brady transfer to Juventus, then the Paul Merson transfer then Henry.

Chippy And Merse came through the ranks. To this day they bleed Arsenal when cut. Henry, though a legend at my Club, will never be above the likes of Adams, Chippy and Merse for this reason.

  29. Matt Trower Says:

Gunner 8309,you know what I mean though, right? As I stated of course we are missing players and things have’nt been great but honestly it’s been dispicable some of the things people write about their own club. It’s different to being dissapointed and having your own opinion because thats one of the great things about football. Maybe these super negative ‘fans’ don’t actually go to the matches like us hey. They just believe quality and success is bought!!!! I bet they slagged Chelski off for buying the league!!
We will be fine- just need a little patience.

  30. grabber Says:

Arsenal1Again: I completely agree. It’s just a sign of the shortness of some people’s memories. I’ve never been convinced we needed Arshavin, though I’m pleased we seem finally to have bagged the guy.

What people forget is how much Arsenal have overachieved with Arsene Wenger at the helm. He made the club into a global footballing force, something it never was before (remember how happy everyone was with the European Cup Winners’ Cup?), and expanded its stadium and its global reach to enable it to remain there.

Our commercial size will now dictate that we have enough money to remain at the top, or thereabouts, for a long time to come. There will of course be peaks and troughs. But the Premiership bubble which has seen all of these new owners spending like made WILL burst over the next couple of years. Even Abramovich seems like he’s starting to cool on Chelsea, and who would have seen that three years ago?

Arsene and the board have turned short term successes into a long-term plan and vision for the club. Whilst I like it as much as anyone when we win trophies, I’m even prouder of the footballing and commerical ethos on which Arsenal has been built.

    Long may it last.

  31. gunner8309 Says:

Matt matey, i totally do, but we jus gotto be patient with those fans…i jus think those super negative fans are 15year old kids who want glory haha, they obviously do not understand what it is to support, not to forget the booing of eboue, i like him as an arsenal player ’cause he does work hard, but hes either not realised his potential (which is probably why wenger didnt sell him) or hes not arsenal quality, time will tell, but i feel the lads better than what hes showin us, lacks confidence, real low,

to those negative fans : patience is a virtue….have faith, support the club, stay calm, things will happen, arsenal will win again boys

  32. gunner8309 Says:

Arsenal1Again : what about the way our ol’bobby was let out…and vieira (i doubt he wanted to leave, although the last season he played for us i remember his passes were not accurate , probably he got a lil slow for the league) and dont get me started on henry…thought he’d remain the king at emirates, jeez henry why did you leave us for the spanish club!!! apparently adebayor thinks hes henry, trying to accelerate withing the box with 2 defenders in front of him…atleast he brings the good ol’memories back, VIEIRA, SILVA, FREDDY, BOBBY, DB10, AND THE KING HIMSELF….what a team my fellow gooners…. they deserved a CL medal together…

  33. gunningforthetop Says:

Hope we give the poor guy a chance, seems everyone is resting all our problems on him which i think is a v bad idea. There wasnt a serious amount of hype over nasri and having been given his chance to settle he has become a vital player for us. I think we should concentrate on getting ade/kolo/clichy/diaby playing a bit closer to their potential and let arshavin do his thing-it cant be easy coming from the russian league , especially with the fixture congestion we have coming up.

i think people have the right to voice what they feel about their club even if it is quite extreme (providing it is well thought out and not random criticism)-arsenal owes a huge amount to wenger but to allow the club to slip from where we were to where we could find ourselves soon largely thanks to an inability to replace quality players is ridiculous. If saving a few extra million instead of bringing in a DM in Jan costs us both cesc and 4th place i think we could have major issues.

  34. grabber Says:

    Gunner8309:

I’m not sure your memory isn’t distorting your view – undoubtedly these were all great players, but time makes you forget things from when they were playing. Henry, for instance, had gone off the boil (although he’s playing well for Barcelona atm). Gilberto, similarly, was far from everyone’s cup of tea. And was anybody truly upset (other than for sentimental reasons) when Freddie left? Le Bob was over the hill.

It’s a shame we’re not winning so much at the moment, but being sentimental about players who are past their peak is not the way to rectify the situation.

  35. gunner8309 Says:

fair enough but nostalgia, read my previous post matey…we will get thru this, im not worried at all
