Team News: Nasri, Song OUT Denilson, Diaby IN!

Some major surprises on the Arsenal team-sheet:

Gibbs is fit. Arshavin is on the bench. A midfield of Walcott, Cesc, Denilson, Diaby.

Time for Diaby to have a big game, I think. Arsene’s put a lot of faith in him.

COME ON YOU REDS

I am so upset that I’m just going to blast Wenger on every Arsenal blog I visit. This was piss poor team selection and outright dumb tactics by Le Boss. He had a consistent winning formula with 4-4-2 for the past few weeks against Premier League opposition and then switches to this stupid 4-2-3-1 setup with RVP playing way out of position and one of his most potent weapons in Arshavin on the bench for 75 minutes. Even worse when Arshavin does come on he leaves on a terrible Diaby who has done little to nothing for the entire game and instead of pushing RVP up front with Ade for a more attacking 4-4-2 to win the game, he plays it totally wrong and sticks with as unconvincing formation and we lose the game. We might as well had put a goat in the goal, maybe then he’d stay on his line and stop shots instead of Fabianski finding his way outside of the box numerous times and giving Drogba far too much opportunity. Wenger got it wrong on all fronts today, he choked big time and it cost us an FA Cup final.

i fink wenger is loosing it, wat a formation i cant belive it ade out rvp out and bentner of all d ppl on bench, wenger sold us out

i can’t believe we could not beat chelsea today we know the defence was abit shaky but i think gibbs did very well in the entire game but what surprises me the most was song, nasri and arshavin all sitting on the bench untill 75mins of the game. For me wenger was afraid of beating chelsea today from the formation and selection of players to fixture in an awkward formation game plan which eventually made us lose to the chances of getting a silverware after 4 years of tropheles season yet another worriesome evening for the club. I think wenger need to add strenght to the team because from todays match it appears the team lack physical strenght which won the game for chelsea today.

  4. Haroub Says:

I don’t know what wenger was playing,a midfield of diaby and denilson making it overcrowded.he left bayo without service leaving our informed midfielder on the bench.frm da 1st min i knew we r going 2 have a problem.by the way what position was diaby playing?

  5. JOhn Says:

WC i totally agree!! Denilson aint arsenal standard, he was fucking piss poor and it really shows against good opposition. He lost the ball so many times and whenever he did cheslki had a chance! Fuck the team selection, it was shocking and Song should have played, he has been so good of late and why the fuck was Arshavin on the bench. Arshavin would have caused so many problems to Ivanovic, that RVP never really did. RVP should have been rested, he played in mid-week and where the fuck is Eduardo ?? I thought he was going to be back for today too……

  6. Michael Says:

Rubbish team today, Diaby and Denilson were awful. Wenger got it horribly wrong and another trophyless season is now all but certain.

Not playing Song at all was shit, bringing on Arshavin and Nasri too late.

Then we’ve got that Man Utd wanker in central defence and the clown in goal.

We got what we deserved and what Wenger was playing for.

I am too upset to write something long. A very dissapointing game after the run we had. But it got me thinking that maybe we needed something to come back at us after the run we’ve had, and that hopefully it will strengthen us before the remaining matches of the season which are going to be the most crucial of them all!
Lets hope, the boys come out strong after yesterdays defeat and that we can put a whole new team against Liverpool.

One loss and people are on about wenger ‘losing it’!!

You’re all plastic cunts. We weren’t that far off from a win which is great considering our flimsy backline.

Lets see how many of the prawn sandwich brigade over react again and call for wenger’s head.

  9. chocolate legs Says:

you cunts were saying song wasn’t ‘arsenal standard’ not so long ago – so give Denilson a break. I’m sick of these fair weather fans. Go support man united.

  10. Jeff Says:

I feel as though we gooners were let down today, not so much by the players, but by Arsene’s team selection and change of tactics. Song has played so well lately, a pleasant surprise to myself and many others and to leave him out today when we needed a combative midfield, was completely uncomprehendable. Also, to leave out Arshavin, one of our more skilled players was also really difficult to understand. Fabregas also seemed to be below his best today and was not able to get forward to provide those telling passes because he had to work so hard to cover up for both Dennilson and Diaby who had pretty awful games.

I know many Gooners love the phrase “Arsene knows” but I think he just got it so wrong today and I would love to hear what his justificaation for today’s selections and team tactics. I think we all have to acknowledge we’ve been so unlucky with injuries and obviously he doesn’t have much choice about playing Fabianski but he didn’t help the situation by selecting players who were not able to compete with Chelsea.

I’m not hopeful about the next few games if he persists with these tactics.

For goodness’ sake – AW was not bothered about today. The FA Cup means nothing – a shiny trophy, that is all. I hate to have to write those words, but it’s the truth.

Fourth place is much more important – a place in the Champions League is worth ~£30m. In these difficult economic times, that is key. I’m sorry, but as much as the fans want silverware, the fact is that it is MONEY that will keep the club going (and not have to bow to people like Usmanov). So get over it. He was saving players for Tuesday and Liverpool in the PL.

Let’s move on and get behind the team for Man U in the CL and make sure we get 4th place – 3rd if we can…

  12. STREAKY Says:

It was bad day yesterday…. we started well enough, but the second half was pure shit. To many players were below par, perhaps they needed more rest between games or perhaps Eboue, silvestre and diaby don’t play regularly enough to find some form, the playing surface didn’t help our style of play either. Having a makeshift defence against chelsea, we were always going to struggle . Lets overtake chelsea in the league and win the CL instead. Lets hope at the end of the season 3 average performing players (bentner, silvestre, diaby) leave and 4 better players come in .

  13. jude mutale Says:

Am just blaming our manager for failing to produce good supper subs in time me as an individual i couldn’t live Diaby on the pitch after 30 minutes of the game he had already indicated that he is week or not feet for the game of the day when he was loosing the ball in the midfield even he led the poor performance of fab coz he was playing deep in the middle diaby had nothing to do with the midfield the blame goes to our manager we had Ashavin Nasiri attacking midfielder and Song holding role. w’re just lucking some one who can hold the game and release the strikers i don’t blame any one i only blame wanger for failing to know who to remove and who to introduce thanks

  14. Michael Says:

This is silly. Wenger gets criticised and deservedly so, who disagrees?

When he puts out teams like yesterday he makes himself an easy target for criticism, and that needs to be said. Being called a cunt or a Man Utd supporter is sickening. Like it’s not acceptable to criticise the manager!

Yes, CL qualification is more important but actually winning something would have been REALLY nice! But hey, there’s always next season, eh?

    GUTTED!

  15. fourstar Says:

@Michael: I am not disagreeing with you; the fans desire a trophy. But realistically, AW knows what is more important to the club.

  16. ASNLthruNthru Says:

My immediate gut feeling was that Wenger was “gambling” by fielding the Double D‘s。Surely having such a depleted defence meant starting with Song, who has really proved his mettle,in front of the back four rather than Denilson, who has not yet done so.Starting Diaby in place of Arshavin may have been “tolerable caution” but in that case,Nasri was the better choice, creativity wise.Let’s hope that Arsene fields a stronger, sharper midfield at Anfield and repeat history by defeating “favourites” Liverpool 20 years after.
