Sp*rs look set for glory after making their best start to the season for 49 years, when they last won the title.
And in what does this fantastic start consist?
3 wins. A mere 35 matches now stand between ‘Arry’s boys and the championship. If you believe this sort of nonsense, they may as well hand out the medals on Monday morning.
Far from getting carried away about the “best start in 49 years” statistic, Sp*rs fans would do well to reflect on exactly how consistently bad your team has to be to fail to win 3 games in a row at the start of the season for 47 years in a row.
Don’t get me wrong, they look to have a reasonable side and Redknapp is a much better manager than they deserve, but we’ve seen good managers and promising teams before at White Hart Lane.
We’ve seen them promise much in big-spending summers, we’ve seen their fans getting miles ahead of themselves, and we’ve seen them collapsing into 9th place mediocrity. Time and time again.
Meanwhile the national media, alarmed to have their dire warnings of Arsenal’s inability to win any football matches without first spending lots of money made a mockery of, have outdone themselves. From Arsenal’s league total of 10 goals and six points, they have spun a negative story of some ingenuity – apparently none of our strikers will ever score again and we’re well and truly stuffed.
After all, it’s not how many you score that counts is it? It’s whether the goalscorers play in the right position.
What a lot of bollies.

the question is how many will they score when the strikers do start scoring

Whilst the spuds may not have looked terrible going forward, against an in form team who can finish they will either have to change the way they play and be far less threatening parking in front of their goal or concede goals like it has gone out of fashion, as they have been lucky not to leak more goals against mediocre opposition so far.
I’m surprised the spuds havent released a DVD, having not lost for a grand total of 3 games…..what an achievement?!?

To be fair, van persie hasn’t looked at his best this season. I hope he livens up a bit. And tottenham do look good. No matter how much i hate to say it.

Early doors, Poker rakeback, early doors.
Robin will be fine. If he stays mostly injury free he’ll top 20 goals without much bother, I reckon.

spurs fans do make me laugh! its always ‘oooh wev won 3 games and we r gunna win the league!’ eny1 who knows enything about football will know that spurs will do what they always do:
1. have a good few games where they gain a lot of points.
2. the fans start being stupidly optimistic
3. they go back to being shit and end up finishing mid table
4. and finally, the tottenham fans become the laughing stock of the premiership as usual! lol!

hahaha.. 3 games..!!! Imagine if they go 20 games unbeaten or something… They might do a parade…lol
And about van persie.. He could have scored many goals, Cesc was a lil greedy against pompey, persie was all clear but he dint pass. and who cares if RVP dint score he already did like 4 assist i think. thats good enuf for me 4 now but i hope he scores a net full of goals this season…

Hm, its amazing that we are wasting all this time blogging about Spuds. We’re better off chatting about the impending risk/ opportunity when Fran Merida is used to replace injured Cesc.
I would love him playing Celtic but I would’nt know if its a good idea to let him do it against Manure- what do you think?
Its chances like these that bring out the best in players. Remember how Flamini took his when Gilberto went to play for his country? He failed to take back his place in our lineup therafter. What a better way to see if we would or would’nt be stuffed if Cesc returns to Barca for +£50m payment? The question here is do we have enough cover behind to engage in such tinkering of the team? But I hear murmurs that “Fortune favours the brave” from you somewhere.
Lets talk about that instead of giving Spuds undue attention. That is exactly what they want but dont deserve- at least from any of ours. Got it?

good point Goonerbeall, though of course the point of my post was just to briefly take the piss out of the Cocks while they’re crowing.
interesting idea about Merida. Personally, I think we’ll see Diaby playing in front of Denilson and Song on Wednesday, and against Utd if needs be. We could also use Ramsey, or pull Arshavin back into that role (which he likes) and play Bendtner and Eduardo on the wings.
I think these would be Wenger’s preferred options, though you never know. Do you think Merida is ready? And would you pick him over Jack?
I’ve always said Ramsey was signed with one eye on Cesc’s departure, though clearly other options will emerge alongside him, and it doesn’t need to be a straightforward exchange.

A guy like Van Persie has got to score goals…he can’t live off assists methinks. He’s bound to get rolling sooner or later, or at least I hope so.
